Uses for Vinegar

Clean your Microwave with Vinegar

In a microwave dish just add 2 cups of water and 1/4 cup vinegar and heat it up for about 3 or 4 minutes. When your done you will be able to easily clean that stuck on grease and food right off your microwave.

Clean Your Coffee Maker With Vinegar

About once a month it's important to run vinegar and water through your coffee maker to clean it out. This will greatly improve the taste of your coffee, water alone cannot get all of the residue out but vinegar can.

Pour white distilled vinegar into your coffee maker , allow it to sit for a few minutes then turn it on and allow the vinegar to run through. Depending on how often you clean your coffee maker you may need to run vinegar through a few times to completely remove the stains and residue. After you are finished don't forget to run clean water through your coffee maker to remove any vinegar taste. Also don't neglect your coffee pot, use warm water and vinegar to remove the stains left behind in your pot.

Clean Hard Water Stains

To clean hard water stains from your toilet bowl just pour a good amount of white distilled vinegar into the bowl and let is sit for about 30 minutes. Most of the stains will just wipe off with ease, a little scrubbing may be needed if you have strong stains. You can also add vinegar to a spray bottle and use it to clean your shower. I found that vinegar works way better than those commercial Calcium, Lime and Rust removers and is a lot cheaper too!

Cleaning your BBQ grill with vinegar

Vinegar works well to remove rust and stuck on food left behind on your BBQ grill. While the grill is warm just mix a spray bottle with vinegar and water and spray the grill rack, let it sit for 30 minutes to an hour then use a wire brush to wipe the rack clean. Vinegar also works well for cleaning the outside of a stainless steel bbq grill and it won't scratch the surface.

Cleaning Your bathroom With Vinegar

Vinegar can be used to clean hard water stains and soap scum from your bathtub, sinks, shower and your toilet. You may dilute the vinegar with water or use it full strength. You can even soak your shower heads in hot vinegar solution. You will be amazed at how well vinegar removes hard water stains!

Kitchen Floors

Vinegar can be used to clean your linoleum and wood floors. Just add about half a cup of vinegar and to a warm bucket of water and clean away! Don't worry the vinegar smell goes away in about 10 minutes. You can even add drops of your favorite accent oil such as : Lavender, Lemon, Spruce, and Pine. About 15 drops should do it for a full bucket of water.

Using Vinegar as an All Purpose Cleaner

By mixing 1 part vinegar with 3 parts water in a spray bottle you are doing your part to be eco friendly. If you can't stand the smell of vinegar ( even though it goes away) you can always drop in about 12 drops of lavender or lemon essential oil into the spray bottle. It makes a wonderful glass and surface cleaner.

Pet stains

Vinegar is the perfect solution to cleaning up those little messes pets leave behind. Get a spray bottle with 1 part white vinegar and 1 part water and when your pet makes a mess soak the area for 10 minutes, then rinse with warm water and blot up with a towel or wet dry vacuum.

Go Green - Use Vinegar as a Fabric Softener

Vinegar works great as a fabric softener it makes your clothes soft and fluffy. Just add half a cup of vinegar to the rinse cycle. It helps to remove soap from clothing and can help those with allergies to fabric softener. Vinegar can also be used instead of bleach for whites, just add 1/4 to 1/2 a cup to your wash, it can prevent dyes from fading as well.DO NOT use Vinegar and Chlorine Bleach together, it can produce harmful vapors.

Cleaning wool and cotton blankets with Vinegar

Instead of dragging those big blankets to the laundry mat try adding 2 cups of white vinegar to warm bath water to soak your blankets in. For an even Greener effort dry your blankets outside instead of using the dryer.

Stainless steel cookware

A few tablespoons of vinegar mix with a few teaspoons of common table salt works well for removing stains on stainless steel cookware and silverware.

Vinegar and salt works great to shine up dull Pennies. Place a layer of salt on your penny then put a few drops of vinegar on it and lightly rub it off with a paper towel. I have heard ketchup also works well to shine up pennies!

With your fingers try rubbing a little bit of white distilled vinegar on the Cd, then rinse with warm water and using a soft cloth wipe dry the CD from the inner circle out. A small amount of toothpaste diluted with water is also believed to clean a cd just make sure to rinse it off with warm water and dry the cd before use.

Cleaning your Dishwasher with Vinegar instead of Jet Dry

To clean and deodorize your dishwasher try adding a cup of vinegar to your empty dishwasher and run the cycle. You an also add vinegar to your rinse dispenser instead of jet dry, it works great!
